Safety for Sarah
On Monday October 22, 2012, Sarah Harris, a derby sister with ties to FoCo Girls Gone Derby and the Choice City Rebels, suffered a gunshot wound to the head during a domestic violence incident. The Coloradoan and the Reporter Herald reported about this incident. Medical Center of the Rockies staff treated Sarah’s physical injuries, which were severe enough to warrant intensive care before her condition stabilized. In addition to physical rehabilitation and basic needs of safe shelter, food, and clothing, Sarah needs mental, emotional, social and spiritual support from her family, friends, and community. Sarah’s recovery from the acute effects of the violent shooting as well as her recovery from the ongoing pattern of domestic abuse will take financial support.
